When’s the last time you left the gynecologist thinking,

“THAT WAS AMAZING”?

Gynecology isn’t something that often inspires joy.

Although modern gynecology can be life-saving at best, it’s often depressingly unhelpful,
or traumatizing at worst.

But that’s not the end of the story…

MORE IS POSSIBLE…

MUCH MORE.

We can create nourishing, uplifting & effective care
for our pelvic organs and tissues.

Using practical, hands-on medicine, we have the power to create radiant wellness in the root of our body, navigate common imbalances that may arise, and be empowered in seeking outside help should we need it.

And when we care for ourselves with devotion, we become more anchored in our purpose and our courage to unapologetically live the truth of who we are here to be.

We have the power to make gynecology an EVOLUTIONARY MEDICINE.

Be the first to know when the next course opens.

      What past students are saying:

      • "Learning how to feel my uterus and cervix and assess what is going on inside my body was huge for me!

I’ve shared so many pieces from the course with other people
over the years. I want everyone to have this knowledge.

And I still refer to the class handouts you made for us all the time."

        -Hope L., student in 2012

      • "I really haven't received any other education like this; SV stands way out!

I want to share this with all my girlfriends who are also seeking to engage with their root in loving, sacred, and informed ways."

        -Kasha W.

      • "I want to recommend this course to every single cis woman I know.
        SV transcended all my expectations.

I love your focus on Chinese medicine and energetic practices; it feels like such foundational care for being a female human."

        - Gabi L.

      • "I am incredibly grateful for this course.

It has given me tools to better attend to my self-care, MUCH more awareness about women's health and my own body, and an abundance of resources to turn to as needed on my healing journey.”

        - Megan F.

      • "When I think about the ways I was educated on these topics as an adolescent, all I remember is the fear, the scientific studies, the rationally-based teachings, the answers provided in the textbooks.

Where was looking to my body as a teacher?

This course has provided such a powerful experience for me of unlearning and relearning, of re-centering my body as my primary teacher and discovering the ways that my root is in direct relationship with the forces of nature all around me."

        - Sofia S.

      • "This course has really empowered me to do hands-on work with my own body.

I have had incredibly healing sessions with you and other body workers, but because the class was focused on the medicine of my own hands I feel I walked away with tools that I will utilize for the rest of my life."

        - Silvija K.

      • You are wanting an in-depth course in Fertility Awareness charting. SV includes a brief overview of FA, but thorough study requires several months of practice and reviewing chart notes. Please check out Fertility Friday, Whitney Miley Price and Ashley Hartman Annis if you would like to dive deeper into Fertility Awareness study.

      • You are on hormonal birth control, hormone therapy, or are taking other drugs that stop your period. If this is you, there are many powerful and relevant tools for you in the course and recommendations for bringing your cycle back. Please note however, that many of the ways we work to regulate pelvic health is interconnected with our menstrual cycle. If you aren’t menstruating due to a drug that stops your period, you many not be able to reap full benefits from some of the practical applications we cover in this course.

      • You want advanced help with PMDD, endometriosis, PCOS, moderate to severe organ prolapse or incontinence, or a sexually transmitted infection other than HPV. If you are dealing with any of these situations, this course will provide a very powerful foundation of tools for you to work with as well as some recommendations for how to work more deeply with what you’re going through. The course material doesn’t however focus on practices or protocols to specifically treat these cases listed above.

       F.A.Q.’s

      • If you are just beginning to explore ways to care for your root, you're in the right place. If you already have some familiarity with your cycle, herbs, and holistic root care, this course is designed for you too!

Sovereign Vagina spans beginner to intermediate-advanced material, deepening in complexity as we explore constitutional assessment through the lens of Chinese medicine, strategies for creating our own treatment plans, and utilizing powerful hands-on care.

      • We explore A TON of practical information to help us tend our uterus, cervix, ovaries, pelvic bowl, pussy, vulva and vagina using strategies from Western herbalism, classical Chinese medicine, naturopathic, osteopathic and functional medicine, and time-tested indigenous healing practices from around the world.

We also explore how we can be free in our bodies and inhabit our physicality with the fullness of our heart and our consciousness. If we focus just on logistics, we can start to mimic conventional medical care: "There's an issue, and we are going to apply X to 'fix' it."

SV explores how we can be anchored in our bodies and in our lives, and engage dynamic, nourishing pelvic care as a potent path to access and tend our emotions, unwind our restrictive patterning, and amplify the truth of our purpose.

I very much work on a spiritual and soul level, but I have what I call a "new-age allergy": if something we practice is not helping us be more articulate and clear and effective in life, I question if it's worth engaging at all.

      • It's easy to take offense at the term vagina, because the original Latin root means "sheath" or "scabbard". A common Latin word for penis was gladius, meaning "sword". We can infer this original Latin was insinuating that a vagina’s purpose is to hold a penis, but let’s dig deeper. Etymology often reveals hidden truths, and if we are taking back gynecology, we need to take back vagina too.

About that "sheath": we keep in a sheath what is prized or delicate. Without a sheath, an instrument becomes dull and damaged and loses its power. Instruments of fine craftsmanship or rare materials lose their value. A sheath is a place where preciousness is kept and maintained. That which is held in a sheath is important only because of the sheath itself. What exists within us in this space is sacred. That which enters here is made sacred.

Modern use of the word vagina technically refers to the "passageway" into the body, through which we can meet our pelvic bowl, cervix (entrance to the uterus) and urethral sponge (g-spot!). Not only are we inherently sovereign in our bodies and in our generative organs, our organs themselves are sovereign: they hold supreme power and wisdom. Our path to knowing ourselves and our organs is sovereign. The path is the way.

Pussy is a word that I think beautifully conveys the sensuality and sass of our erectile tissues and arousal response. Asia Suler of One Willow Apothecaries writes, “Like the big cats from which they were named, pussies hold the same sense of autonomy, elegance, softness, and power. Pussies grace us with their purring presence, and yet with a single hiss can set a non-negotiable boundary. Pussies enjoy themselves thoroughly, take pleasure whenever they want it, and yet answer to no one. Pussies belong to themselves, give only when they feel like it, and yet are adored. Pussies are innately sensual, sovereign, mysterious, and mystical.”

Also, have you ever TRIED to get your pussy interested in something it didn't want? It's like trying to herd cats. The pussy don't lie.

      • SOVEREIGN is a word that's getting a lot of attention these days.

From the Oxford dictionary, sovereign is "possessing supreme or ultimate power." Sovereignty is our personal authority to live our lives in the way we see fit. It is our self-agency and autonomy to think, act and live freely.

There is inherent wisdom and power in the root of our body, and there is inherent power in our path to be in relationship with the wholeness of ourselves. No one else has claim or control over our vagina/pussy/pelvis; no cultural narratives or past traumas have power over the force of our own essence inhabiting our body. And, it is our right to exercise full control over what we choose to do, and not do with our womb, vagina, pussy and pelvis.

        Every person deserves sovereignty.

        One person's sovereignty can't override another's.

One collective's sovereignty can't outrank another group's sovereignty.

Sovereignty isn't a special pass to do whatever we please at the cost or suffering of others. Sovereignty is not a weapon to wield against others. Sovereignty is sacred.

      • Modern gynecology as we know it was developed through the torture and experimentation of enslaved Black women and under-resourced poor white women in the 1800's. (Source: *Medical Bondage* by Deidre Cooper Owens)

This horrific history continues to impact modern gynecology whenever we do not have personal agency in the exam room, whenever we do not have bodily autonomy, whenever we do not have the opportunity to consent. Modern gynecology is often unecessarily traumatizing, and it also often fails to provide relief when we need it.

Gynecology can and should be a branch of medicine dedicated to helping us understand our bodies and empowering us in our own health. When we claim gynecology as OUR medicine, we set the stage to change the entire profession into something that truly serves us.
